Louisa Picco, Monash Addiction Research Centre, Monash University

Dr Louisa Picco is an NHMRC Emerging Leader Research Fellow and the Drug Policy and Harm Reduction Program Lead at the Monash Addiction Research Centre. Louisa has published over 110 peer-reviewed papers, has been awarded over $2.9 million in funding and is the recent recipient of the 2024-25 Victorian Premier’s Award for Public Health Research. Her research has examined multiple strategies that aim to reduce opioid harm. This includes exploring the implementation and impact of policies such as prescription drug monitoring programs, the development and integration of clinical and consumer approaches to identify opioid-related risks in practice and the adoption of harm reduction strategies like take-home naloxone.
