Getting to Canberra

Getting to Australia’s capital is a breeze…travel to Canberra conveniently by air, road or rail.

From the airport, catch a taxi, hire a car or catch the Airliner bus service into the city centre.

Once you’re in Canberra, you’ll discover the ease of travelling around master designer Walter Burley Griffin’s planned city. Take a public bus, a taxi or a tour. You can be on the other side of Canberra in just forty minutes. Alternately, drive yourself around. Traffic flows are great. Even the roundabouts are easy to negotiate!

Visas and Australia

All visitors to Australia must have a valid visa before boarding their plane regardless of the length of stay.

Note: New Zealand and Norfolk Island passport holders do not usually need to lodge a visa application prior to their departure unless they have health and/or character concerns.

The International Event Coordinators Network at the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Citzenship can advise you on the following:

  • How to apply for a visa
  • What visa to apply for
  • When to apply for a visa
  • Where to apply for a visa

Importantly, it is the policy of the conference NOT to supply an “invitation letter” to unpaid or unregistered delegates as it is NOT required and does NOT assist in the visa application process. Upon payment of registration fees, each delegate receives a confirmation letter of acceptance of registration and receipt of payment.
