Associated Events

The APSAD conference provides the perfect opportunity to launch new publications or services and provides a platform to hold a related meeting. Limited opportunities are also available on Sunday 28 November 2010 for organisations to host satellite workshops. In order to maximise interest and attendance, the 30th APSAD conference Organising Committee are happy to facilitate programming and assist with logistical arrangements and planning.

Associated meetings

Satellite workshops

Sunday 28 November 2010, 1.00pm – 5.00pm (registration from 12.30pm), National Convention Centre (conference venue), Canberra

The delivery of treatment for opiate dependence varies greatly around the world. In this symposium, international and local addiction specialists and consumers will examine the impact of these differences. The symposium will conclude with both the presenters and the audience participating in an interactive hypothetical debate.

Cost: attendance at this symposium is free for all conference delegates to attend.
Registration: delegates must indicate their attendance at the time of registering for the 30th APSAD conference.

ASHM hepatitis C s100 prescriber course

Saturday 27 – Sunday 28 November 2010, 9.00am – 5.00pm, Novotel Canberra, 65 Northbourne Avenue, Canberra ACT 2600

Medical practitioners successfully completing this course and associated activities (case study based assessment, clinical placement) and satisfying their state or territory’s accreditation criteria may  be certified to prescribe s100 antiviral therapy for the maintenance treatment of hepatitis C (only in those states or territories with formalised hepatitis C shared care arrangements).

Cost: subject to funding (this course is free for medical practitioners and nurses in NSW/ACT).
Registration: online via the ASHM website (registration closes Friday 19 November 2010).
RACGP accreditation: this course has been allocated 40 Category 1 points under the RACGP QA&CPD program.
